CAPE Facilitates Employee Feedback Sessions in Department of Regulatory Agencies
The Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) is a diverse department of several divisions serving businesses, consumers and professionals. CAPE recently met with DORA director Rico Munn and proposed that CAPE facilitate a series of employee feedback sessions to improve communication and improve services to the public.
CAPE staff facilitated 22 feedback sessions and 220 employees (representing 41% of DORA employees) participated. The focus of the sessions was improving communications at DORA. In all of the sessions, employees expressed the need for regular input from employees, noting that in the past decisions were frequently made without asking the affected employees. Employees felt that more consultation and sharing of information would lead to better policies, more consistent practices, and improved training. In a survey conducted after the sessions, 83% of employees said that these type of feedback sessions were necessary. Several hundred employees signed up to get more information about CAPE’s efforts to make state government more accountable and reliable. CAPE has produced a 17-page report on the DORA feedback sessions. Read the executive summary of the CAPE report. |
