State Employees Ask for Voice in Physical Science and Engineering Salary Survey
Over 500 state employees from across the state could be impacted by the DPA Physical Science and Engineering occupational group salary survey. Affected classes include Architects, Environmental and Physical Scientists, Landscape Architects, and Statistical Analysts. State departments affected by the survey include Public Health and Environment, Natural Resources, Higher Education, Transportation and Corrections. CAPE activists in CDPHE and Natural Resources initiated a petition asking the DPA to make the data they were using to make determinations for the salary survey accessible to affected employees, and to publicly post a schedule of meetings on this issue to allow employees to have input into the survey. More than 200 employees from several of the affected departments signed the petition. DPA managers Tina Miller and Don Fowler met with a group of CDPHE and DNR employees who delivered the petition. In the meeting, the two DPA managers agreed to post the data and the schedule of meetings on the DPA Division of Human Resources web site, making the process more transparent and accessible for employees. UPDATE: DPA has decided not to move forward with the survey. This decision is a significant gain for employees because when past PSE surveys were done, wage rates had been significantly reduced. |
